ABOUT ME

I am a business professional with wide experience in  mentoring and people management on one side, and on the other determined bike-packer and

volunteer in NGOs around the world with

a focus on improving life of others.

Thanks to this perfect mix of business understanding and user-centred approach to solving problems, I have decided to pursue a career of UX Designer

and never looked back.

Development Intern at Hertz

Adam was an amazing mentor to myself during my internship. His willingness to share his knowledge and experiences, while also being eager to learn from me are qualities that I will continue to learn from. Under his guidance I learned many values and techniques, but most importantly how important it is to listen to others while and be willing take their critique. In an age where you can look up anything, knowledge is best achieved though experience and connection. Thank you Adam for all you have taught me.

General Manager Probus Insurance

Adam listened to and helped develop the brief. He met with team and quickly understood the context and checked in regularly with his internal customer to ensure re-design was heading in right direction. Adam took inspiration from external influences and previous design to produce various options for selection and the final design was chosen following consultation with employees.

Combination of listening, checking understanding, innovation and quick execution led to successful end result.

BIKEPACKING

No schedule, no bookings, no connection, no stress. Me, my foldable bike "Barry",yellow tent, very beaten old DSLR camera and basic supplies. No need for buses, and hotel bookings, lot of interaction with people along the way and plenty of stories all around the world.

When I get a longer break, I pack my bike and go to place I never been and with no plans, just explore. By now I have travelled through 50+ countries, and somehow value this experience more than any school or course I have done. It has taught me how to be humble, listen to people, adapt to environment but when you need to fight for your rights, right of others and challenge ideas and authorities in right time and right way.

Some  of the highlight of my bike packing adventures was to cycle around Central America with a huge teddy bear and bringing it to a little  girl in Cuba for Christmas, and 2 months Icelandic and Faroe island adventure where I had to face some of the roughest weather elements and really explore what I am made of.

VOLUNTEERING

My life was always about people. It didn't take too long until I saved some cash and was able to repay my debt back to society. Volunteering in other countries is indeed one of the hardest things I have ever done but so rewarding and fullfiling.

So far I have worked as teacher in African orphanage of 170 kids, helping to recruit teachers, communicating with local council and trying to emphasise rights of women in very male community.

Moving away from sun scorched Africa I have also worked in Himalaya in Kargyak school situated in 4500 meters above sea level. Me and one more volunteer were running a school for 6 months, away from any mobile or internet connection and 3 days walk from closest civilisation. Since this school is based in Kashmir region it involved fair communication with military and educational officers as well as with local buddhist community. Days, where temperature was fluctuating between +30 to -10 were pure test of my endurance, however due to amazing Zanskari people I would not hesitate to come back.

Videos from both volunteering missions can be seen using the links below.
